Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya participated in the official inauguration of the second day of National AI Expo 2026 held on 30 September at the Monarch Imperial under the theme AI Amplified.

The exhibition was jointly organised by the Ministry of Digital Economy and SLT-MOBITEL providing students with an opportunity to engage with developments in the field of artificial intelligence.

The two day event from 29th and 30th September, brought together more than 60 speakers from 16 countries and representatives from government, industry, startups and academia to showcase products, debate policy and accelerate AI adoption across Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that the Government aims to produce not only talented artists, but also doctors who understand the pain of their patients and engineers who possess a strong sense of humanity, emphasizing that aesthetic education plays a vital role in achieving this objective.

The IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka, Mr. Evan Papageorgiou, and accompanying representatives of the IMF met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Parliament on 22 September, with the key objective of sharing the experience and outcomes of Sri Lanka’s IMF-supported programme , with special emphasis on its seventh review .

Government committed to ensuring the rights of children with disabilities and providing equal opportunities

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that having a disability or other special needs should never be a barrier to a child’s future, and that the Government is committed to building an inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities without barriers, while giving due recognition to the true abilities and talents of every child.

Advance preparedness is essential to control flooding caused by monsoon rains

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that development projects can deliver results to the people more quickly when the political authority and the public service work together towards a common, people-oriented objective.
