Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne is a noble son of Sri Lanka – Prime Minister

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena paid his last respects to the remains of Sarvodaya leader Dr A T Ariyaratne at the Sarvodaya Headquarters. He signed the Book of Condolences after sympathising with family members of the late ’ Sarvodaya’ leader.

Addressing the media, Prime Minister stated that Dr. A. T. Ariyaratne is a noble son of Sri Lanka who has implemented an altruistic noble movement based on human virtues throughout the country.

His death is a huge loss for the entire nation, he said adding that the great example he set by going from village to village throughout the country is eternal.

“The exemplary process brought forward with several generations was a new approach not only for Sri Lanka but for many countries and organizations in the world. The services that were rendered by that leadership and blessings are endless. The contribution that he has made to create a society full of human virtues is bigger than that of political parties and departments. It is humbly stated that there has never been such a leader who has voluntarily united the human society. Dr. Ariyaratne guided us all like a teacher without the power of a government, the power of a party or any other such inherited power. May he attain the supreme bliss of ’ Nibbana’ ," the Prime Minister stated.
