New Pakistani High Commissioner calls on Prime Minister

New Pakistani High Commissioner Major General (Retd.) Faheem Ul Aziz called on Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees on March 15.

The High Commissioner thanked the Prime Minister for his felicitations and best wishes sent to newly-elected Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Prime Minister thanked Pakistan for supporting Sri Lanka at international forums and for extending training facilities to the members of Sri Lankan armed forces.

He discussed the possibility of expanding bilateral ties in economic spheres, investments, tourism and industries.

The High Commissioner said there is potential for increasing Buddhist pilgrim to Pakistan as sufficient infrastructure facilities have been established in places of pilgrimage such as Thakshila and Gandhara region.

MP Yadamini Gunawardena and Secretary to the Prime Minister Anura Dissanayake and Deputy High Commissioner Wajid Hassan Hashmi also took part in the discussion.
