He is also currently the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government, a Member of Parliament, and Leader of the MEP which is in alliance with SLPP.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena planted a Nelli (Indian Gooseberry) tree in the Temple Trees premises at the auspicious time for tree planting in New Year Festival at 10.16 a.m. today (18.04.2024).
