Regarding the Issue of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya held a special discussion today (26.09.2024) with officials from the Ministry of Education regarding the problematic situation concerning the leakage of some questions from the Grade 5 scholarship examination, which was held on 15.09.2024.

The Ministry of Education has informed that the following actions have been taken:

A country cannot be built without the people’s confidence in the law, public service, and political authority.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya emphasized the need to work together for a public-oriented government service that avoids misusing public resources. The Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting with officials at the Prime Minister’s Office at Flower Road, Colombo, this morning (25th).

Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, who became the 16th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, began her duties at the Prime Minister’s Office at Flower Road, Colombo, this afternoon (24th).

She is the first woman in South Asia to rise to the position of Prime Minister without coming from a political family.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya stated that the current government is ready to bring about the change the people expect and called for everyone’s commitment and support to achieve it.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr. G. Pradeep Saputantri, also commenced his duties at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Prime Minister’s Additional Secretaries Harsha Wijewardene, Mahinda Gunaratne, Senior Assistant Secretary D. Mashanka H. Liyanage, and a group of officials from the Prime Minister’s Office participated in the event.
