Prime Minister pays last respects to Most Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thero

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa paid his last respects this morning (30th October) to late Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, Chief Judicial Prelate for the two Regions of Colombo and Chilaw and the Chief Incumbent of the Peliyagoda Vidyalankara Pirivena, Aggamaha Panditha Most Ven. Dr. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Nayake Thero at the Vidyalankara Pirivena in Peliyagoda where the remains of the Venerable Thero lies.
The Prime Minister expressed his deepest condolences to the resident monks, the Dayaka Sabha of the Vidyalankara Pirivena and the relatives of the late Nayake Thero.
The Prime Minister recalled with respect the contribution made to the perpetuation of Buddhism in Sri Lanka as well as the leadership of Ven. Kusaladhamma Thero in resolving various crises and problems in the country.
Kusaladhamma Nayake Thero spent sixty-seven years of his altruistic life for the betterment of the Buddhist culture in Sri Lanka.
Hon. Prasanna Ranaweera- State Minister of Rattan, Brass, Pottery, Furniture and Rural Industrial Promotio and Hon. (Dr.) (Mrs.) Sudarshini Fernandopulle- State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control, were also present at the occasion.
Final rites of the late Ven. Welamitiyawe Kusaladhamma Thero will be held tomorrow (31st October) at the Independence Square with full state honors.
