Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa paid respects to the former president of the Republic of Korea Roh Tae-woo at the Korean Embassy in Colombo this afternoon.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of President Roh and to the Government and people of the Republic of Korea,” Prime Minister Rajapaksa said in his condolences.
The Prime Minister, who was received by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka Woonjin Jeong, signed the condolence book and placed a floral tribute to the late president.
“The late President Roh will always be remembered for his tremendous work towards the progress and the prosperity of the Republic of South Korea,” the Prime Minister said.
President Ro died at a hospital in the Korean capital of Seoul on Tuesday following complications from a number of illnesses. He was 88 years old.
