Prime Minister instructs to expedite work on the new shopping complex in Kollupitiya

Addressing Colombo Municipal Council party leaders meeting conducted at the Temple Trees yesterday (26th October) Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, advised that all council members and officials to act diligently towards expediting the construction of the new shopping complex project in Kollupitiya, encouraging the investors.
It is proposed to construct a new shopping complex at the present Kollupitiya market premises. The proposal of the project was unveiled to the Prime Minister on March 12th this year.
The project will be jointly implemented by the Urban Development Authority, the Colombo Municipal Council and a selected investor.
The Prime Minister stressed that project implementation issues should be discussed and resolved with the consent of the MPs and officials and the investors should be encouraged.
He further emphasized that new stalls should be reserved for all those who are currently holding businesses at the premises.
Mrs Rosy Senanayake- Mayor of Colombo, Hon. Mohammed Iqbal-Deputy Mayor of Colombo, Mr. M.H. Manzil- Leader of the Opposition of the Colombo Municipal Council and other council members, Mr. Gamini Senarath- Secretary to the Prime Minister, Major General (Rtd) Udaya Nanayakkara - Chairman of the Urban Development Authority, Plnr. Mr. N.P.K.Ranaweera- Director General of the Urban Development Authority, Eng. S. K. A.P. Devaraja- Director General (Development) of State Ministry of Urban Development, Coast Conservation, Waste Disposal & Community Cleanliness and Mrs. Roshanie Dissanayake- Municipal Commissioner were also present at the occasion.
