He is also currently the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government, a Member of Parliament, and Leader of the MEP which is in alliance with SLPP.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena welcomed the President of Iran, His Excellency Ebrahim Raisi, who came to Sri Lanka to declare open the ’Uma Oya’ Multipurpose Development Project, today (24.04.2024) at Mattala Mahinda Rajapaksa International Airport.
